This course covers concepts and theories
concerning cross-cultural adaptation and provides learners with guidelines
on adaptation. Learners are able to adjust themselves to situations and
issues related to social, environmental, and cultural differences. Also,
learners are guided on how to collect qualitative data related to the
cross-cultural adaptation field.
Study
Methods: Online using ZOOM
This course is
mandatory. During or at the end of each session, classwork, individual
work, or group work will be assigned. Students are required to complete and
turn in all assignments on time as directed by the lecturer. Also, students
are encouraged to consult the lecturer before turning in each assignment
and should follow these study methods:
- Print/download all class materials from the lecturer’s website as instructed attend lectures/watch recorded lectures, and take good notes.
- Self-study
through assigned readings and audio-visual materials.
- Participate
in class discussions, debates, group work, and presentations.
Moreover, in order
to develop long-term critical reading and writing skills, students should
extensively read English-language and international newspapers (such as
www.cnn.com, www.nationmultimedia.com). In addition, students should do
self-study and review necessary supporting knowledge, such as vocabulary,
grammar, and sentence structure. Students should also keep a record of the
vocabulary learned, and review the notes from time to time.
